I sit here, in a small upstairs room in a little cottage in the Oxfordshire village of Appleton and ask myself the perennial question: what should I be doing? I’ve constructed (for a fragile period of time) a life where I pay my dues to the inescapable gas bill by working two days a week. This leaves me a fair degree of freedom. What should I do with it?
